The Federal Member for Hinkler David Batt MP has announced Hinkler community groups, organisations and sporting clubs will receive much needed funds under the Federal Volunteer Grants Program.
Mr Batt said a total of 40 grants of between $1,000 and $5,000 will deliver wide ranging cost relief directly assisting volunteers.
“This is wonderful news ahead of Christmas, our volunteer-based organisations are the lifeblood of our community,” Mr Batt said.
“These grants will assist with funding of insurance, communications plus various services and items which support our amazing volunteers.”
The Bundaberg Parkinsons Support Group meets once per month between February and November. Coordinator Judy Learmonth has welcomed a $1000 grant that will go towards audio equipment including microphones and amplification to help give members a voice.
“People living with Parkinsons lose confidence and vocal range. By introducing this technology our members will be able to be heard and participate in discussions.
This will be a great confidence boost for our members.”
Mr Batt said there was high demand for the grants, with almost $300,000 of requests made.
$66,625 of funding was allocated for the Hinkler electorate during this round.
