Statement

Today is a National Day of Mourning, to honour the 15 lives lost in the Bondi terror attack and to stand with the families, survivors and first responders whose lives were forever changed.

Federal Member for Hinkler David Batt MP is encouraging all Australians to observe one minute silence at 6:01pm (AEST).

Mr Batt fully supports the Nationals leader David Littleproud and the Nationals Party Room determination that remaining in Coalition with the Liberal Party under the leadership of Sussan Ley has become untenable.

“Opposing Labor’s poorly drafted hate laws was a principled decision of The Nationals Party Room, made to protect against potential unintended consequences to the rights and freedoms of everyday Australians,” Mr Batt said.

“The Nationals priority is keeping Australians safe against Islamic extremism and antisemitism. We will always stand with the Jewish community against the scourge of antisemitism.”
