The Federal Member for Hinkler David Batt MP had the honour of meeting veterans and advocates in Parliament House today as pressure rises to ‘scrap the cap’ on veterans allied health.
The Coalition of Veterans’ Voices told Mr Batt that the Labor Government’s plans to introduce a $5,000 cap is a barrier to timely treatment.
Mr Batt has been steadfast in his opposition since the chaotic Labor budget was handed down in May.
“Veterans didn’t put a cap on their service so we shouldn’t put a cap on their allied health support,” Mr Batt reinforced.
“They should not be asked to bear the cost of Labor’s budget repair. The Government must immediately re-evaluate the arbitrary cap on allied health for our Veterans.”
The Coalition of Veterans’ Voices wants the cap to be scrapped, choice to exist when it comes to choosing providers and an overall fix to the DVA system.
Mr Batt agrees that veterans should not have to wait months or years for decisions and that health practitioners should not be left unpaid for care already provided.
“I’ll keep fighting for a fair go for our Hinkler veterans – they deserve better.”
