Batt backs in Coalition plan as parliament resumes

Federal parliament has resumed in Canberra following the five-week winter recess as support builds for the Coalitions plan to fix the economy and protect Australian’s way of life.

Federal Member for Hinkler David Batt MP said the plan for lower taxes, cheaper power, less migration and putting Australian’s first is receiving extremely positive feedback within his electorate of Hinkler.

“It’s good to be back in Canberra with many concerns to put on the table on behalf of the people of Hinkler. Over the parliamentary break I’ve had a wonderful opportunity to meet with many locals, and it was great to launch the Coalition plan with visits from Leader of the Opposition Angus Taylor and Leader of the Nationals Matt Canavan,” Mr Batt said.

“Under Labor, Australian’s have experienced the worst collapse in living standards in the developed world.

Only the Coalition has the strong leadership, strong team, and strong plan to restore Australians’ standard of living and protect our way of life.”

Mr Batt said the Coalition will stop Labor’s assault on aspiration by axing every one of Labor’s toxic taxes.

“We will introduce the Tax Back Guarantee, and back small businesses with a $50,000 instant asset write-off and make it permanent, for any business with a turnover under $10 million.

Following feedback received from roundtable meetings and forums with business leaders in Hervey and Bundaberg, I’ve been directly involved in shaping policy to get rid of red tape and making sure regulators make life easier – not harder – for businesses and workers.”

Cheaper power is another key commitment for the Coalition.

Mr Batt said under Labor, power prices are far too high.

“The Coalition will scrap Net Zero and make Australia an energy superpower. We will deliver cheaper power and energy abundance,” Mr Batt explained.

“We will also free-up housing stock and begin to restore the dream of home ownership with a cap on immigration numbers based on available housing.

A Coalition Government will overhaul our skilled migration program, bringing in the people with the skills that businesses desperately need.”

Mr Batt said putting Australian’s first is a fundamental pillar in the plan.

“Australians are paying more for everything due to high inflation and our debt is set to hit $1 trillion for the first time.

We will establish a Future Generations Fund to pay down Labor’s trillion dollars of debt and invest in long-lasting, nation-building infrastructure – roads, ports, energy and water.”

Parliament will sit for the next fortnight in Canberra, and the Nationals will hold their annual federal conference this weekend.

Copies of the Coalition’s plan are available at davidbatt.com.au and constituents can request a hard copy through the electorate office at Hervey Bay or Bundaberg.

Meanwhile, Mr Batt will soon release interim results of ‘Hinkler’s Biggest Survey’ which concluded last month.
