From the classroom to Australian Parliament House – young artistic students from across Hinkler have a unique opportunity to help create a projection for the Australian Parliament House façade.
The projection will be on display during the Enlighten Festival 2027 (Feb 26 – March 8) to help celebrate 100 years of Parliament in the nation’s capital by showcasing children’s artworks from across Australia.
The Federal Member for Hinkler David Batt MP said students from Years 5 and 6 are encouraged to create artwork inspired by where they live.
“The theme can include art that draws on the people, plants, animals, landscapes or special places that shape our students’ everyday lives,” Mr Batt explained.
“This great initiative will bring together artwork from every corner of the nation – including Hinkler – creating a large-scale animation that will be projected onto the front of Australian Parliament House.
This is a fantastic opportunity for young Australians from across our region to see their art come to life on one of the nation’s most recognisable landmarks.
I’m calling on teachers, parents and guardians to encourage students in Years 5 and 6 to get creative and share where they are from, capturing the people, places or experiences that shape their everyday lives.”
A toolkit for students with tips and templates, and a fact sheet for parents is available on the Parliament House website: aph.gov.au/StudentArtwork
Submissions are open until 29 October 2026.
