The Federal Member for Hinkler David Batt MP is urging locals to be prepared and informed about Census night.
To be held on Tuesday 11 August 2026, the Census is the largest collection of data undertaken by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS).
Mr Batt said Hinkler households should receive instructions via mail to complete the Census online, with paper forms available on request for those who prefer them.
“You can fill in the online option straight away if you already know where you’ll be on Census night. You don’t need to wait until 11 August,” Mr Batt explained.
“Every five years the Census form asks questions about your age, country of birth, cultural background, living situation, work and education. Every answer helps us understand what Australia needs now and into the future.
Census data is used to inform decisions about transport, schools, health care, infrastructure, and business. It also helps plan local services for individuals, families, and communities.”
Mr Batt said if Hinkler residents are struggling with the process, they are invited to attend a Pop-up Hub to get information, access paper forms and get help to complete the Census.
“Not everyone wants to fill out the Census online. The Pop-up Hubs have been introduced to make it easier for people to get in-person support to complete their Census.”
