Batt appointed to Parliamentary Committees

Federal Member for Hinkler David Batt has been appointed to four important Parliamentary Committees.

“I feel I have much to offer, and it is crucial for these committees to investigate matters of policy, government administration and performance,” Mr Batt said.

“As a former police officer, I have a keen interest in law enforcement policy, and I know how important matters of defence, foreign affairs and trade are, not only for my community of Hinkler but for all Australians.”

These appointments were confirmed during the first sitting of the 48th Parliament of Australia.

Mr Batt has also been appointed in the role of Deputy Whip for the National Party.

Much of the detailed scrutiny and accountability work of the Commonwealth Parliament is conducted through parliamentary committees.

Parliamentary committees scrutinise the operation of government departments, examine policy issues and review some legislation before it is enacted.

They also provide an opportunity for the community to be directly involved in the work of the Parliament.
