Batt hosts leaders in Hinkler

The Federal Member for Hinkler David Batt MP this morning hosted a Business Forum in Hervey Bay with Leader of the Opposition Angus Taylor MP and Leader of The Nationals Senator Matt Canavan.

It marks the first time in a decade that both the Federal Liberal and National Party leaders have come together in a visit to the electorate of Hinkler.

“This has been a unique opportunity to showcase the Hervey Bay region to our nations leaders.

I thank Angus and Matt for accepting my invitation to meet locals and share our plan for a fairer, freer and better Australia.”

“Through the forum, walking the streets and visiting businesses, the leaders received direct feedback on the issues that matter the most,” Mr Batt said.

The trio also met with members of the Hervey Bay Chamber of Commerce and Mr Batt said the well attended forum gave small business owners, tourism operators, and locals a chance to discuss the issues affecting their livelihoods.

“We have plenty of success stories but so many local businesses, even the best, are struggling with higher taxes and rising costs,” Mr Batt said.

“Under Labor, prices are up, real wages are down, productivity is in retreat and Australians are going backwards. Only the Coalition has the strong plan, the strong team, and the strong leadership to save Australia – to turn tough times into better times.”
